No Friend But The Mountains
A two-part documentary series following the creation of a major symphonic work — and the story of the man at its centre.
The work
No Friend But The Mountains documents the creation of a symphonic work inspired by the writings of Behrouz Boochani — Kurdish-Iranian author, journalist and refugee advocate — performed by the Zelman Symphony Orchestra at Arts Centre Melbourne.
Directed by Myles Conti and produced by Ákos Armont, the two-part series aired on ABC and iview. Xenon Post handled post supervision, online conform, colour grading and final delivery across both episodes.
The series captures both the scale of the live orchestral performance and the intimate human story behind it — a combination that required careful, considered post work to honour both elements.
