Drop-frame (DF) timecode skips frame numbers 00 and 01 at the start of every minute, except every 10th minute — keeping TC in sync with real time at 29.97 fps. The frames themselves are never dropped; only the numbering skips. DF TC is written with a semicolon: 01:00:00;00. Non-drop-frame uses a colon: 01:00:00:00.
